My idea morphed from this...
To this!
This took half an hour and cost $150
So the journey of my tattoo started probably 10 years ago after getting my first one...
Heres my other tattoo looking very faded and in need of attention.
My obsession was sparked, for years I read Tattoo magazines and searched on line for "the one". Two years ago I started looking more seriously as you know if you have read this blog from the beginning. I started a file of ideas but a couple of months ago I found the top picture on website selling greeting cards amongst other things and I loved it. I researched the tattoo galleries and found Ink in Palmerston North whose work I liked. email contact was made and the design started to emerge. I was very happy that Ryan had used the words as the branch the birds sit on, it was a surprise change but I really liked it. So appointment made, I dragged my sister in law Faye to Palmerston North to do a spot of shopping and get the art done. I was so excited/ nervous that I didn't buy a thing until after the tattoo was done.
the studio is small and painted in black with a beautiful chandelier in the foyer. I was going to take a photo but they might have thought I was really weird and I was trying to be cool around the tattoo guys. We had to wait but got to watch a german guy getting a huge piece done on his leg. A young girl was before me and she got a lovely feather with a maori design through it but she took a long time cause she vomited half way through! Luckily she was in a private part of the studio and we didn't get to see. Ryan asked me if I had had one done before, he was quite happy to hear I had and I didn't have any horrible reactions LOL.
Faye is looking for a design for her husband who passed away 2 years ago now and while he was a great surfer she won't be getting a surfboard done! LOL.
Faye likes this one and wants Waynes name incorporated into it so the artists are working on this for her and she will be getting it done the week after Easter.
And so the journery continues with the coverup/add on design for my back piece underway.
