I'm not broke....I'm just having an out of money experience!

Today I went on a hunt, a money hunt around my house and came up with 13.60 to add to my 10.00 I already have in my wallet so maybe I'm not completely broke!
My account is untouchable because the money in there is for the mortage and other payments going out. Neil went back to work today so we will be getting paid again this week. This happens every year in January. Neil's work pays him his holiday pay and I spend it all cause I think we have lots of money!
My resolution this year is to manage my money our money better. I started by getting a different style calendar and writing all our regular outgoing payments on it. This lets Neil know what money is going out too instead of hearing "where the fuck has all the money gone?" each week.
I have spent the morning on getsorted.com using the budget calculators etc to figure out where all the money does go. It reckons we should have $6000 left each year after all living expenses have gone out, that includes my craft supplies and doesn't include my Playcentre earnings! OK fess up who has it cause it ain't in my account!
Ok time to face reality, maybe just maybe I do spend a bit much on the kids, scrapbooking, photos, presents, food, videos, clothes.
From today I solemnly swear (imagine right hand raised!) to curb my spending, give Neil regular pocket money, and try to save money. That means limiting my grocery budget to $200 per week, petrol to $60 per week, $50 to Neil each week, using the library even more than I do and selling surplus everything on Trade me.
It does kinda freak me out that we have no savings at all, and the stress from running out of money all the time and trying to hide if from Neil is not good for me!
The big question is how am I'm going to buy the groceries I need to last to payday with 23.60?

  1. Oh Oh....Sounds like Santa was a bit too generous this year?
Facing reality is never easy, I know that from having my income taken away....It sucks!!!

But after a bit of adjusting and a fair bit of belt tightening you get through.

Now my lot are getting used to mum saying "NO" more often than i used to.....lol

You can do it....I have full confidence in you!!!!
